Accessibility

Our commitment to making this site accessible to everyone.

Our Commitment

Jodi Cowles is committed to ensuring that jodicowles.com is accessible to people with disabilities. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to information and the ability to engage with our content, regardless of ability or the technology they use.

We work toward meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, the current W3C guidance for accessible web content. Accessibility is an ongoing practice, and we continue to review and improve this Site as it changes.

What We've Done

This Site has been designed and developed with accessibility in mind. Measures we have taken include:

  • Informative images include text alternatives, while decorative images are omitted from assistive technology
  • Site-built form fields expose programmatic labels and required-field information
  • The page language is declared to assist screen reader pronunciation
  • A "Skip to main content" link is available for keyboard users
  • Visible keyboard-focus indicators are provided for interactive controls
  • Headings and native HTML elements provide structure and support keyboard use
  • Color contrast is reviewed when site styling is added or updated
  • Layouts are designed to reflow at narrow viewports and enlarged text sizes
  • Non-essential entrance animation is disabled when reduced motion is requested

Known Limitations

While we work hard to maintain accessibility, some third-party content or services linked from this Site — including Amazon product pages, Kit subscription confirmation, Substack newsletters, podcast platforms, and social media — may not fully conform to WCAG 2.2 AA standards. We do not control the accessibility of those external sites.

Technical Specifications

This Site relies on the following technologies in support of accessibility:

  • HTML5 semantic markup
  • CSS (including ARIA roles and landmarks)
  • JavaScript (React) — the site is designed to function with JavaScript enabled

We use automated checks and manual keyboard, responsive, and content-structure reviews as part of ongoing maintenance. If you encounter a barrier, please tell us so we can investigate and improve.
